Familiar Sight

Combining routine grocery shopping with sketching was rather enjoyable.  Sitting down in the eating area at an empty table was just the peaceful location I needed to quietly get to work.   I doubt that I will, on future shopping trips, walk past the plant section pushing my cart without paying a bit more attention to my everyday world.

Snow Transport

 

I went to a Calligraphy Guild Meeting and I am trying out using a more

deliberate text treatment, although I am also comfortable with my ordinary

scribbling scrawl.

I need to be transported by thoughts and ideas in this snowy season.  This bike (not mine) outside my second story window isn't going anywhere very soon.

Same Spot Different Season

Snow Colors, Winter Indigo

The winter colors outside the window do look similar to the new ones on the loom.  This time I seem to be using the yarn colors to  reflect these limited yet lovely winter hues.  My choices only became clear to me after seeing the photos.

As you can see the weaving of the hemp warp has finally begun.  Its rather a denim look that is appearing right now.
I have enough warp to last for quite a bit of experimentation, so I'll be using a bunch of leftover yarns for the weft and probably won't retain the limited color combinations.  There is such a vast amount of variety in nature, even just looking out the window from day to day, hour to hour.

We're having some very cold and snowy weather.  The Metro Sketchers Group (check them out on Facebook) had a sketching day at the Zoo and Conservatory where it was warm and even humid and full of activity.  We had a great variety of subject matter and lots of appreciations as we enjoyed viewing each other's work.
