Celebrate Lichens

These are from a fold-out book that I made.  The lichen pictures I painted from photos in the Brodo/Sharnoff book called Lichens of North America.  I enjoy the colors and the forms but also the whole idea of the dynamism and ubiquitous, yet environmental aspects of lichen.

North Shore of Lake Superior

I stayed overnight in this little cabin right on the shore of Lake Superior.
My little painting means much more to me than the photos.  As you can see the weather was spectacular!

On the afternoon of October 2, I joined up with a group of sketchers organized by some of the artists from Wet Paint, an independent Art Supply Store, as part of their Celebrate Sketching week.
